Today a great step towards my moms recovery happened! They took her off the medication that was keeping her sedated so she is now more aware then she was before! If all continues to go well she will hopefully stay off it until her next surgery. She has had a slight fever since Friday but is nothing that the doctors are worried about at the moment. They say that it is very normal for it to happen. A very sweet nurse copied a poem for us and hung it in my moms room, we would like to share it with you.
A Bend in the Road
When we feel we have nothing left to give
And we are sure that the "song has ended"--
When our day seems over and the shadows fall
And the darkness of night has descended.
Where can we go to find the strength
To valiantly keep on trying,
Where can we find the hand that will dry
The tears that the heart is crying--
There's but one place to go and that is to God
And, dropping all pretense and pride,
We can pour out our problems without restraint
And gain strength with Him at our side--
And together we stand at life's crossroads
And view what we think is the end,
But God has a much bigger vision
And He tells us it's only a bend--
For the road goes on and is smoother,
And the "pause in the song" is a "rest",
And the part that's unsung and unfinished
Is the sweetest and richest and best--
So rest and relax and grow stronger,
Let go and let God share your load,
Your work is not finished or ended,
You've just come to "a bend in the road".

Your prayers are defiantly working! Thank you all so much, God Bless.

Your family is truly amazing and blessed with love and compassion. It is so wonderful to see how people from every part of your life have rallied together to share their thoughts and prayers for your mother's healing.
I, too, have been thinking of you and your family. You are all so brave to face this challenge with such optimism, including your mother. You continue to be in my thoughts.

Hi Jen and Martin family,
I am so glad to hear that your mom is doing better.
Every day that those "bends in the road" seem to straighten a bit, you know that God is listening to the prayers from so many. Jen, you are an amazing girl, with such strength and wisdom. Don't hesitate to come see me during the day if you need anything or just to take a break.
Love, Mrs. Grasso
