While my heart aches at the suffering Maureen is enduring right now, it is also filled with joy and gratitude to all of you for the great kindness and compassion all of you have shown Maureen, me and the kids in this most difficult time. Thank you for all the good thoughts, prayers and countless acts of goodness you have undertaken on our behalf.
As Jennifer's notes reflect, Maureen's condition has improved steadily since some dark moments last Friday. A CAT scan Monday morning showed that both her kidneys are functioning. In fact her left kidney (which was at greatest risk) is functioning at a "high" level while her right kidney is lagging a little but still doing ok given the trauma. The attending urologist, Dr. Basralian, described this as nothing short of a minor medical miracle. The second trip to the O.R. which Jennifer described was to remove materials the surgeons placed around her injured organs to help stop the bleeding and this went very well. There will be several more surgeries in the coming weeks.
Right now Moe is on a ventilator with a breathing tube in her mouth. As a result she remains rather heavily sedated and will continue to be so untill they swap the breathing tube for a traecyotomy and her tummy has healed a little more. Hard to say when that will be but perhaps 5-7 days. At one point over the weekend they reduced the sedation just to check her response and she was able to open her eyes, squeeze our hand and gesture in response to questions. She gave a "thumbs-up" and OK sign to let us know she's good!! We are all looking forward to the next big OK sign. Sitting here tonight she is resting peacefully, with good vital signs and all the many stats and metrics the staff monitor to track her status so hopefully we won't have too long to wait.
Well I have run on too long so let me end by thanking in equal measure the doctors, nurses and other health care professionals at Hackensack MC, and all of our dear friends and neighbors for everything you are doing for Maureen and our family. As Dr Kaul, one of her trauma surgeons, has said - you are all very important members of her recovery team and without your good wishes, prayers and countless other contributions, her recovery would be that much more difficult and tenuous.
Good night and God Bless.

We should expect to no less than a miracle from this miraculous woman. Thank you so much for the updates on her condition and improvement. She is in my thoughts daily as I hug my kids, greet my husband in the evening and even folding the laundry because I know these are the moments that she is fighting for and she will have them again. Your whole family is in our prayers.

Dennis - Thanks to you and Jennifer for these updates. What great news!! Maureen is one of the most gentle souls I have ever met, but she's got that great fighting Irish spirit which will pull her through. You all are in our thoughts and prayers, and we've asked all our families far and wide to pray for you as well. Many thanks again for taking the time to keep us updated.

I'm thrilled to hear of Maureen's continued amazing progress. I have been thinking about & praying for Maureen non-stop. We all went to the 11 o'clock mass on Sunday, which was said for Maureen, & I'm sure that all of the collective prayers are helping.
Thank you for the updates and keep up the spirit Maureen.

Hi Dennis,
thanks for the update on Maureen.
There are many hands lifted up for her here at Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
God Bless, Fr. Sean
Dear Dennis
I can't tell you what a blessing it is to recieve these messages of hope about Maureen. The entire Mt. Carmel community has been in continual prayer for your intentions. The MOMs met this morning and we were concluding prayers for Maureen and all of you when Fr.Ron stopped in to give us an update as he had just returned from seeing Maureen.
We have spoken to Fr. Ron about having a Mass of healing offered for Maureen sometime in the near future at Mt. Carmel. The idea originated in the MOMs and we would like to have anyone that wants to gather in prayer, storming heaven on Maureen's behalf, and for God's grace and healing love to be showered upon all of you. I will be in touch about a date and time that might be best for you and the family.
Please be assured of our continued love and support. With love, Linda English
